Touchdown: Brush to Canvas

Having done my preliminary work for the Francophile Garden painting, I took a deep breath and put brush to canvas this week. Having laid in the composition in red ochre, I had to sit back and cogitate before beginning to lay on the paint. In the meantime, to warm up my garden painting chops, I decided to paint a favorite country garden in Brittany. Now I’m ready to go to work.

But first, before I get too far, I have to load the car and do the Quailcrest Farm Herb Fair in Wooster, Ohio tomorrow. Although it’s not a high profile art show, I’ve done it for years and always have success.

Here’s a stoneware garden structure that will be for sale. It was inspired by the wonderful buildings I saw in the Lot, France, this sumer.
